Toddler on the Roof

Wouldn't you know it, once the rain started coming down sideways and the wind was blowing like crazy and the sun had long since been set, the drip started in the bathroom again.  Dave has already tried to fix it 3 times.  Of course, all have been during a rain storm. (Why does the roof always decide to leak in the rain at night??)

This time, Dave had a game plan.  He waited until morning when the rain had stopped.  When he did go onto the roof, he took his assistant with him.
"See Dad? That's the spot!"

Checking out the leak.

"I can see mine backyard!"

"That is my neighbor's house!"

So high!
After the adventure with Allyson, Dave seems to have successfully fixed the roof for the 4th time.  No heavy rain showers in the forecast for the next little while, so all is good for now...

Baby Chicks

I have a parent from last school year who has baby chicks.  (Hi Alex!) Alex invited Allyson over to hold the chicks once they got a little bigger.  Allyson also headed out to the chicken coop and helped collect 2 fresh farm eggs.

Thanks Alex!!

Chilling with Jen and Nate (part 3)

We had a FANTASTIC time playing and hanging out the rest of the week with Jen and Nate.  The girls had fun together.  Allyson needed some reminders to not love Kaitlyn quite so hard, but neither were the worse for their time together.

Allyson is such a lucky girl.  She gets to celebrate her birthday twice every year!

This is what Allyson wanted most of all!

CHEERIOS!

Not SO much love!

Nate is SO tall he could help Allyson walk on the ceiling.

We miss you guys already!!  We had a wonderful time and hope you come again soon.

A Visit with Jen, Nate, and Kaitlyn Part 1

Our dear friends, Jen and Nate, came out to visit for Nate's Spring Break with their little one.  After picking them up from the airport, we all headed out to the coast for a nice relaxing few days.

Allyson LOVES being back in the pool.

Jumping, jumping, jumping!!!

Hanging with Dad

Allyson and Dave love hanging out together.  They have been doing a lot of this lately.  Last week they decided to go to the zoo two days in a row!  Allyson is pretty good at finding her way around and knows where to find her favorite animals.  When Allyson realized that Daddy had the camera on this last trip, she decided she needed her picture taken at all of her favorite places.

Hanging with the penguins

That snake was THIS BIG!!

Having a chat with the jaguar

Apparently Allyson sang a wake up song to the gorillas because they were sleeping.

Have you seen Allyson's meerkat face?

Fun Ways to Fill Time

Allyson is getting busier and busier every day.  With all the rain and crazy weather that we have had lately, we have had to come up with some new ways to keep her entertained inside.
First up, making playdough.  We tried this a few months ago and Allyson didn't want to have anything to do with it.  This time, SUCCESS!

Helping measure salt.  Did you know that salt is tasty??

Watching it mix together.

Playing with Daddy!

Silly with Mommy!
Next up, was a preschool visit.  This is in preparation for September.  Allyson spent the morning at preschool.  She was excited that they were reading about the Three Little Pigs.  Less excited that Mommy and Daddy left her and didn't get to stay.

Allyson's house of straw.  She was excited to get to do the gluing!
Washing dishes has also become a fun thing for Allyson.  She likes that her chair or stool gets her talk enough to reach the faucets!

Washing dishes takes concentration.

Anyone have the time??

One afternoon was just one of those days.  I pulled out the cookie cookbook and let Allyson choose something new to make.  She decided on the "kitty cat cookies."
Adding the frosting on top to make the kitty cat.

Final product.  Yep, that's a stick in a cookie.  It actually was pretty handy!

Notice the clean hands.  That is due to the stick!

Face, not so clean!

So there you have it- some of the ways Allyson fills her time inside.  Know that there are almost always baked goods on the counter that she helps make.  Come stop by and we will share!!
