Hugging Without Kissing Lessons

Several nights ago, Allyson decided that Dave and I needed to know how to hug her without kissing. Apparently, while she doesn't mind the kissing, she wants to know if we can hug without kissing. So she decided to hold class. She gave us each a ticket for class that started at 7:00 tonight. She collected items in her basket to use for class- a ball, a pillow, a blanket, a balloon flower, a backpack, a deck of cards, a flashlight, and several other important items. She said class would be held in her room at 7:00.

Flash forward to 7:00 tonight-
Dave and I met in Allyson's room. She came up with her basket of items and was ready to teach. Dave suggested that class start with hugging practice without kissing. it is the craziest thing! Neither of us can hug Allyson without kissing her! We tried several times with no success, kisses every time!

Allyson then decided she would have us try to guess our favorite animal. She held one of her animals up behind us and we had to guess what it was. Class progressed to us then raising a foot "if you like this cat 100%." Dave was a very ornery student and kept raising the wrong thing- hand for foot, etc. Allyson took Dave aside and put him on yellow for not listening. She said he could go back to green if he started listening and making good choices! (HA!!)

I kept asking Allyson what her learning objectives were for the lesson she was teaching (one of these days she will probably tell me!). As she kept asking us if we liked "99% of the cat" I started hugging Dave and kissing him on the cheek!

Now at this point, Allyson jumped on Dave's ankles and he started to fall over. We started laughing so hard! I decided I should really be taking notes during class so I could remember exactly how to hug without kissing, just in case that actually came up in our lessons! Allyson had actually brought me paper and a pencil to use!

As I type, Allyson has lost focus on teaching us and has moved on to listening to stories about Biscuit. Maybe I will learn more about hugging without kissing tomorrow.

Wait! Just as I finished the above, Allyson realized that class was still in session! Now we are back the liking the cat 100%...

  1. What a funny kid! Think she might have some teachers influencing the way she sees the world? :) LOVE it!
